THE FIRST STEP IN OUR KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT (KM) STRATEGY.

When we embark on a knowledge management strategy with a search firm, we recommend starting with our knowledge audit.

Our knowledge audit starts by working with the heads of practices, research and database management leaders to have a clear understanding of the organization’s workflow, culture and goals.

All search firms are already involved in some level of Knowledge Management — even if they are not thinking about those processes within the framework of Knowledge Management.

PURPOSE OF OUR KNOWLEDGE AUDIT

  • To develop a clear picture of how a search firm manages its information and knowledge assets.
  • Understand and document how individuals within an organization share knowledge.
  • Understand motivations and incentives for knowledge exchange.
  • Identify elements of organizational culture and organizational learning that are tied to knowledge management.
  • Identify current successes, best practices, and cultural behaviors that can be built upon.
  • Identify key areas for bottlenecks, redundancies, missed opportunities and areas of concern.

KNOWLEDGE AUDIT DELIVERABLE AND OUTCOMES

Knowledge audits are usually conducted as part of the planning phase to develop a centralized knowledge management team. Within this framework, a complete knowledge audit is used to inform decision makers with a project plan about how the execution will proceed and which areas will be prioritized.

The audit focuses on how and where our KM team can extend support on the search execution and business development front.

Most often, the deliverable of our Knowledge Audit is a detailed report documenting the current state of knowledge management within our client firm and a project plan that will be executed in a phase wise manner at our end
